Why Travel?

Traveling has provided me with a wealth of experiences and opportunities for personal growth. By exploring new cultures, trying new foods, and immersing myself in unfamiliar environments, I have gained a broader perspective of the world and developed a deeper understanding and appreciation for different ways of life. In addition, traveling has challenged my personal beliefs and broken down cultural barriers, promoting personal growth and self-discovery. It has also offered me the chance to learn new skills, make meaningful connections with people from diverse backgrounds, and create lasting memories. Ultimately, traveling has helped me expand my horizons, gain confidence, and live a more fulfilling life.

London (again)

October 2023

I’ve already been but this time I got to go to meet up with a few friends I met in Morocco so that was a treat. I didn’t get to spend a lot of time there but I was also there when a friend of a friend was out there so I spent half a day exploring parts of the city with her. What was crazy is we were there the day HAMAS attacked Israel and so there were protests starting already the next day which shut down part of the tube forcing me to walk more than I expected….. which quite frankly I didn’t mind but I honestly didn’t know what was going on because I was travelling and not watching the news. One new place I was able to visit was the Spitalfield Market…. a market of creators and vendors from all over selling unique items, although you can tell which vendors were actual creators and which had items that were made in Asia and they were just reselling as a form of business.

Italy pt. 1

July 2023

Immediately after Morocco I went to Italy for a 2-week language immersion class. It was amazing. I wish I was there longer. I could be in Italy for months, years really, especially since I lived there once before. It feels like my second home country even though I have no Italian blood. I was in Florence the whole time for this language school. And it was nice because I just felt like a local. I shopped at the local grocery store, I went to the same restaurant multiple times to where a few of the waiters and waitresses would start to call me by name and even wave to me on the street if I was walking by. I found a few local coffee shops where students and remote workers would gather and hang out to work or study. Some other random places around the city that a tourist wouldn’t normally see and met a few people from other countries at the school that I enjoyed getting to know.

Morocco

June 2023

Morocco was a place of wonderful chaos. The rules are really only known by the locals and it’s your job as a visitor to the country to ask or find out what they are only by realizing what you’ve done wrong. The week I was there was packed full of action from day one your zipping around on a motorcycle with a side cart attached through the streets of Medina almost hitting people and other motorcycles on your way through. then we were driven through the Atlas mountains to a retreat that was much like a resort out of a movie where we dipped in the pool, cocktails in hand and music playing in the background. We soon found ourselves hiking through the Atlas mountains where we came across old Moroccan villages where people lived and thrived in their environment away from it all. Afterwards it was time to drive to the Agafay Desert and traverse our way through the desert on quads to our desert camp for the night. Thank God there was a pool there that gave us relief from the sweltering heat we found ourselves in. After one night under the stars in the desert we made our way to the coast in Essaouria where we surfed the Atlantic, road camels on the beach and explored the city streets and markets to good food, dancing and fun. Finally ending the trip to the coast with a wonderful Haman experience…. and if you’ve never experienced the Haman, then you haven’t lived. We finally made our way back to Marrakech where it all began to end the night with a lovely dinner featuring the best the city has to offer. The relationships made on this trip are ones to keep for the long-run.

New Zealand

December 2022

I went to New Zealand (North Island only) not really knowing what to expect. No one talks much about New Zealand, maybe because there’s not a lot of people who have been there or because it’s just so far away but let me talk about it! This place is probably the only place in the world where, if I lived there, I’d never lock my doors and if I had kids whilst living there I’d let them stay home alone as young as 6. I can’t even stress the amount of safety I felt while in the country and just a genuine kindness that you don’t see many other places. Couple that with the lack of any real dangerous wildlife predators or poisonous creatures, it just blows my mind that this type of place exists. The landscape is beautiful and would be any outdoor adventurer’s dream. And, Hobbiton! I won’t spend much time here but if you know, you know. Any Tolkien fan would would be in paradise. If you ever get a chance to travel to New Zealand I highly recommend it and please let me know because I have plenty of recs…… for the North Island that is.
